Central South University Scholarships in China 2025

The Central South University Scholarships for 2025–2026 is fully funded and open to international students. Both master’s and doctoral programs are eligible for these awards. They will cover tuition, on-campus housing, medical insurance costs, and a monthly stipend.

With more than 200 academic institutions and research centers spread throughout more than 30 countries and regions, including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, and Russia, CSU is an accessible university. Eligibility Criteria

Who can meet the following requirements:

  • Candidates must be non-Chinese nationals in good health and without a criminal history.
  • Candidates for master’s degrees must be between the ages of 18 and 35 and hold a bachelor’s degree; candidates for doctorates must be between the ages of 18 and 40 and hold a master’s degree.
  • Programs taught in China: HSK4 (260) is the minimum for science and engineering, and HSK5 (200) is the minimum for the arts, social sciences, and medicine.
  • Programs taught in English: IELTS 6 or TOEFL 85 is a minimum.
  • For native speakers or individuals who have earned degrees in Chinese or English, there is a language exemption.
  • It is necessary to have a solid academic background and creative research abilities.
  • Consult the Program Catalogue for particular prerequisites for certain programs.

Documents Requirement

Required for Both Master’s and Doctorate Applicants:

  • passport (good for more than a year). If not, you should apply for a new passport first.)
  • Highest Graduation Certificate (A pre-graduation certificate from the school is necessary if you are presently enrolled). Translations of non-Chinese or English papers must be notarized.)
  • Transcript of the Highest Diploma (if in another language, a certified translation into Chinese or English is required.)
  • Non-Criminal Record (issued with an official stamp in either English or Chinese after October 1, 2024)
  • Physical Examination Record (Following the requirements of the official form, the doctor’s signature, hospital stamp, and sealed photograph must be included. Issued after October 1, 2024.)
  • Transcript of Linguistic Competence (HSK for programs taught in Chinese, IELTS/TOEFL for programs taught in English, or other evidence of language proficiency)
  • Self-Introduction Video (one minute, less than 40 MB, MP4 format). Chinese is required for HSK holders to record.)
  • Statement of Not Receiving Any Scholarships (Personal Statement confirming no other funding.)
  • Two recommendation letters containing contact information, signed after October 1, 2024, from various professors or associate professors
  • A study plan that is at least 1000 words long and includes information on the history, methods, topic, and significance of the research. Doctoral proposals must be signed by the applicant’s supervisor.)
  • Acceptance Letter (Proof of academic acceptance.)
  • Published Essays, CV, or Any Other Supporting Materials (optional)

You will be disqualified if you provide false information. Upon registration, originals will be examined; discrepancies will result in the cancellation of entry.

How to Apply?

To apply, follow the below steps:

Step 1: Online Application: Apply through the CSU International Education Portal, fill out the application, and send it in.

Step 2: Initial Evaluation and Payment of the Application Fee
  • Identity, language proficiency, and medical issues are reviewed by CSU.
  • If accepted, you have two weeks to pay the CNY 500 application fee using UnionPay, Alipay, or WeChat.
  • Payment is not necessary if it is denied.

 3: Academic Review: Academic background, research skills, and innovative potential are evaluated by relevant departments.

 4: Admission Results
  • Email and the CSU International Student Service System are used to share results.
  • Formal admittance notice serves as the basis for final financial assistance.

Important Information

  • English or Chinese must be used for documents, and certified translations are required.
  • Applicants who have Chinese parents but are foreign nationals must demonstrate that they are citizens, have lived overseas for two or more of the previous four years, and have renounced their Chinese ancestry.
  • Materials will not be returned, and application costs are not refundable.
  • International students who do not have medical insurance are unable to register.
