A two-week intense summer school called IRSS 2025 is intended for exceptional candidates from around the world who are thinking about enrolling in PolyU’s PhD program. Participants will interact with PolyU faculty, tour state-of-the-art research facilities, learn about multidisciplinary PhD programs, and take part in cultural events.
The program will give students a wide-ranging academic experience by concentrating on important interdisciplinary research areas at PolyU. Themes will include:

Program Overview
The program at Galance looks as follows:
- Student Hall check-in is on June 29.
- Welcome, campus tour, workshops, lectures, academic exchange, consultations, cultural events, and area outings are all scheduled from June 30 to July 9.
- Check-out of the student hall is on July 10.
Financial Aid and Benefits
Participants will benefit from the following:
- Up to HK$5,000, or about US$640, reimbursement for travel expenses when the program is over.
- PolyU offers free student housing in its halls and a reimbursement for entry permit and visa fees.

Qualifications for Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a standout international student who plans to enroll in PolyU’s PhD program.
- Take classes full-time as a Master’s student or as a final-year undergraduate.
- Have the capacity to physically attend every Summer School session at PolyU in Hong Kong.
- They had a solid academic background and a keen interest in multidisciplinary research.
- Show that you are proficient in English; while not required, official language test results like the TOEFL or IELTS are preferable.
Documents Required
The following English-language documents, combined into a single PDF file (less than 10MB), must be submitted by applicants:

- Academic records, including GPA or class ranking, for both bachelor’s and master’s degrees, if appropriate.
- Certificate for a bachelor’s degree (only for master’s students).
- A curriculum vitae (CV) that highlights extracurricular activities, research experience, and academic accomplishments.
- An application letter detailing the applicant’s background in research, strengths, ambitions, career objectives, and motivations.
- Results of any applicable English language tests, such as the TOEFL or IELTS.
- Certificates of honors or recognitions, whether national or worldwide (where appropriate).
- Passport-sized colored photo that complies with PolyU’s requirements.
- Official confirmation of payment of the HK$500 non-refundable application fee.

- Step 1: Fill out the application online and send it in by the due date. An email with a payment link and document upload link will be sent to candidates upon submission.
- Step 2: Get an official receipt after paying the HK$500 application cost online.
- 3: Within two days of submitting the form, upload all necessary papers in a single, under 10-MB PDF file.
- 4: Await the outcome of your application. Notifications of successful candidates will be sent by March 31, 2025.

Vital Information:
- Application for Visa/Entry Permit: Since visa processing takes around ten weeks, individuals who are not local and need a visa should get the required paperwork ready in advance.
- Applicants from the Chinese mainland should allow an extra two weeks to get the required endorsements and an Exit-Entry Permit for Hong Kong and Macao (EEP).
