Qualifications for eligibility
To be eligible, prospective applicants should meet the following requirements:

- Possess a suitable bachelor’s degree, specialist degree, or any other similar degree from an accredited university in order to enroll in MSc programs.
- Possess a relevant master’s degree, specialist degree, or any other similar degree from an accredited university in order to be considered for Ph.D. programs.
- Meeting the basic requirements does not guarantee admission because the institute receives a large number of applications from exceptional students and has a very demanding screening procedure.
Applications to Skoltech have typically been successful for students who have received instruction or training in the following areas;
- Computational mathematics, computer science, computer engineering, mathematics and applied mathematics, informatics, etc.
- Applied physics and physics
- Chemical engineering and chemistry
- Systems biology, biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, bio-engineering, and bioinformatics.

Language requirement:
- Since English is the institute’s primary language of instruction, candidates must demonstrate their language skills by submitting their TOEFL or IELTS results.
- A TOEFL score of 72, 543, or 5.5 on the IELTS is considered acceptable. Candidates with degrees from English-speaking universities are free from these requirements, and their results should be valid for two years.
- If the applicant has finished their higher education in an all-English speaking program, they are exempt from the requirement to submit their English Language Proficiency.
