Scholarship Overview
Inspiring and assisting Japanese life scientists who continue Dr. Noguchi’s commitment to research and humanity is the goal of the HNMS Scholarship. The recipients will exemplify the values of Japanese-American cultural ties and scientific commitment.
The selection of awardees will be based on their affinity with the purpose of HNMS, dedication to significant biomedical research, and academic quality. To honor Dr. Noguchi’s memory, the prize will be presented on May 21, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria For Hideyo Noguchi Memorial Scholarship
To qualify for the HNMS Scholarship, applicants must:
- Graduate students pursuing MD and/or PhD degrees, as well as non-faculty fellows who have completed their terminal degree within the last five years.
- Participate in biomedical research or life sciences.
- Have previously pursued higher education or life science training in Japan.
- Be a current graduate student or faculty member at a US academic institution.

- Research Project Outline: a comprehensive list of the precise goals and objectives of ongoing or upcoming studies.
- Personal Statement: Professional aspirations and congruence with the mission of HNMS, along with instances of scientific fervor.
- Mentors may submit up to two recommendation letters, which should be delivered straight to the selection committee.
